Food & Wine

Tuscany is synonymous with great food and great wine, so why not ensure that your stay at Villa la Massa includes a better knowledge of both?  The hotel offers various activities to satisfy the epicurean needs of our guests, including cooking classes, wine tastings and visits of the Chef's Garden.

Cooking Classes

Guests at the hotel are invited to take a cooking lesson with our Executive Chef, Andrea Quagliarella. Our Chef will share with you his secrets to preparing 3 traditional Tuscan plates and put you to work to ensure that you can replicate them at home.  Finally, you will sample your dishes in the kitchen with the Chef.
Classes take place in the hotel's kitchen and can be arranged between 9.30am-12:00pm, for a minimum of 2 people to a maximum of 8-10 people.
The cost is 150 Euro per person and includes:

  • Practical demonstration
  • Cooking with Andrea book, which includes recipes
  • Chef's hat, apron and roll
  • CD of images taken during the lesson
  • Certificate of Participation
  • Lunch prepared by you and the Chef (wine selected by the Hotel included)

The Wine Cellar and wine tastings

The cellar at Villa La Massa is a small treasure, with its vaulted ceilings and rustic decor. Guests may organize private meals here or enjoy wine tastings with the sommelier.
Wine tastings include a sampling of traditional Tuscan pairings such as salumi and cheeses.  Under the guidance of our master sommelier and Maitre D you will have the chance to sample wines from our over 400 labels inventory.

The cost per person of a wine tasting starts from 35 Euro.

Villa La Massa also organizes visits to the nearby wineries with wine tastings.

Chef's Garden

Villa la Massa is surrounded by a 22 acres garden, whose paths lead to the Arno River and to marvelous views of the Tuscan hills of Chianti and Rufina.
Our Chef has dedicated a portion of the garden to grow a variety of seasonal vegetables and fruits, as well as culinary herbs, to be used in the Hotel kitchen.
The Chef is always happy to take guests on a tour of the garden. Ask our staff upon your arrival how to get to the Chef's garden, you'll be pleasantly surprised!
